Once I decided not to sculpt a cape & fur, I had to figure out something to do with the back of the model. I settled on more burst armor & exposed skin, but for the back I wanted spines or tentacles sticking out.

This is the first stage of that process. I cut off the part of the SM torso that is used to attach the SM back pack. I rolled out a snake of greenstuff and stuck it to that spot, then sculpted the fleshy details & the holes from which would srout the spikes/tentacles.
