I went to Payne for Kindegarten-2nd grade the last year it was open. Sadly I then attended a less interesting public school. It was really great. I have fond memories of the teachers, art classes, playground and swimming in the ASU pool.

I went to Payne Training School in 1948, kindergarten, and 1950, first grade. Many fond memories.

Very nostalgic to see these pictures. I graduated from Payne Training in 1959 and remember some of these kids. I certainly remember the teachers--Mr. Christine was later chairman of my Master's committee at ASU. Mr. Stansell's daughter, Wendy, lives in the next town over here in Washington. Thanks for the posting!

I want to thank you for this site !! Was only in second grade when you left, so we didn't know each other. Was only there until 1966, but it holds my fondest memories.

I graduated from the Payne Training School (named for my grandfather, Ira D. Payne)in the Spring of 1958. My sister Susan is in the class focused on here. My sister, Melinda and brother, Dan also graduated from the Training School. We all went to Tempe High as well. It was fun to see these. Thanks,

Thank you so much for posting the five classes, with names. I remember more people and stories now that I see the smiling faces! I only have the 2nd grade picture. Sorry my family left you guys after the 3rd grade.
