Acuna Y Pietras Negras Jan 2016

Road trip! Dental work! Mexico Fix! Check, check, and check. Four hours away from Austin is a whole 'nuther country. (That's a joke; I stole the line from Texas' tourist marketing ads.) Found the White River Hotel one block from the POE and my dentist's offices on Madura street. Very clean and unlike many, and my subsequent hotel, they don't hand you the toilet paper when you check in! The last time I was in Cd. Acuna in 2009, there was no wifi anywhere. Now it's everywhere. If there's a television in the business, they have wifi. The dump hotel I stayed in in Pietras Negras handed me my toilet paper and had no toilet seat, but they had wifi! First Dr. Zatarain cleaned my teeth ($40)and he found a cracked molar. He did the prep work and took the impressions, and as instructed, came back 36 hours later for final fitting. ($200) That evening I went out to start my Mexico Fix (registration pending.) As I had my camera with me, and although mostly out of sight in a waist pack that was perfectly dorky and not looking valuable, I took my 5.5' hardwood walking stick. Call me brave, call me stupid, call me prepared. Walk softly but carry a big stick as Teddy Roosevelt advised. There are two pictures in a bar on that night's walk. The next morning I took a long walk to an area I'd not been in. No stick. My photo topics of choice are people ("street photography"), unusual perspectives, form, patterns, chiascuro ( https://www.bing.com/search?q=chiascuro&pc=MOZI&form=MOZSBR), cultural differences, puzzlement (what is THAT about?),
