Crazy Eyes

Williamsburg, VA

***Large image "click" on original below for best viewing***

A translucent Jumping Spider (Lyssomanes viridis) - I've heard that jumping spiders focus on things not by moving their "eyes" (which are fixed), but rather by moving the retina behind the lenses. The retina is darker and therefore the eyes turn black when they are looking at you.

I thought it was very cool.

Very cool triptych, Pablo. I've heard (and seen) this in jumping spiders --- very cool.
