The Fish and the Angel

Jamestown National Park, VA

Didn't really occur to me until I got home and saw how "whole" and alive the fish was, and could picture it from the fish's perspective...

There I was, swimming in the river when all of sudden something snatched me up and pulled me out of the world. Then I was floating above a universe that I could not have possibly imagined...

What a way to go!!

That's a cool photo. Did you realize that Ospreys will always turn the fish around in mid-flight so that the front of the fish faces the wind? Yup - it's in all the books and I can attest to that since I've seen them do it.

Terrific shot and story from the fish's POV. You were lucky, Pablo, to eyewitness such a moment.

Actually the image is only slightly cropped - the version shown here represents maybe 80% of the original frame vertically and 60% horizontally. He was really close to me when he flew by. Since he was going pretty fast and I had a long lens I was very happy to get even most of him in the frame :-)

Pablo, that is one amazing shot. I'd love to see the original size one (I'm assuming you cropped it).
