An Old Bumblebee

Williamsburg, VA

An apparently old and ailing bumblebee. Still had gorgeous eyes even if a bit past their prime.

Shot with my $20 garage sale manual focus Nikon 28mm lens

Yep, those eyes made me think that he had spend a few too many (bee) years poking around plants with sharp corners, or maybe the dents are from crashing into much smaller gnats? :-)

As far as the f1.0 in the EXIF data, I guess this is what my camera reports when you slap a 20 year old lens in reverse on a $15 adapter made in China. Not too bad bang for the buck though? On the other hand it's a pain to shoot with, manual focus, close the aperture manually, no ttl flash control, razor (I mean RAZOR) thin DOF, etc... makes me feel like a "pioneer" macro photographer!

Excellent macro, Pablo. Looks like dents and dings in her eyes --- fitting for her age. f/1.0?
