None of my uncles wanted to be remembered for the things they did on earth. We don't remember them for their accomplishments, but for the love they gave.
The news of Uncle Don's passing was met with deep sorrow. Generous, unselfish, aware of others' needs: These are a good description of this man -- a man to emulate. Our trip to Oregon for the memorial service brought back many good memories and lightened a dark cloud.
Uncle Don was an accomplished man: a member of "The Frozen Chosin" in Korea, a teacher, a husband and father, an honored member of the FBI, US Forest Service Arson Investigator, and much more.
If he were here today, he would probably say something like... "You can have all this world; give me Jesus."
