After spending one week in Nebraska and South Dakota, it was time to pack up the car and begin the second half of our trip. Our plan was to spend the next 4 days of our vacation hiking the Snowy Mountain Range, also known as the Medicine Bow, based out of the tiny town of Centennial, Wyoming. En route we visited Scott's Bluff National Monument and Vedauwoo (prounounced veed a voo), a renowned rock climbing locale.
Although the Snowy Range is small it packs in a lot of terrific views of the rugged peaks and alpine lakes. But the real star this time of year was the incredible display of wildflowers. The splashes of color in the alpine meadows, peeking through the snow along the trail, or nestled against some rocks on a peak were fantastic and made for a memorable visit.
