Willis Creek is an easily accessible slot canyon located in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. We camped nearby in Kodachrome Basin State Park and the trailhead wasn't far; seven miles on Skutumpah Road (passable in our Mazda 5 when we visited) off of Cottonwood Canyon Road.

Willis Creek is ideal for all hikers - it's short, easy, and there are no obstacles. Water flows year round (a couple of inches), so shoes you don't mind getting wet are good to wear. Although with a lot of rock hopping and jumping, you can stay mostly dry (Norah embraced the creek and didn't bother - she just walked straight through). There is one small waterfall that is easy to go around as the trail is simple to follow.

Willis Creek can be combined with other nearby canyons for a loop hike or more miles, but it's most common to hike out and back in Willis Creek. It's just a few minutes walk from the parking area to enter the creek and around a mile to the end of the narrows. Willis Creek isn't like other slot canyons with long narrows sections; it's short sections of narrows broken up by wider areas of the creek. While it's not as impressive as other canyons we've been in, the narrows sections are still cool with their curvy walls and pretty colors. We were there mid morning and it was good light for pictures. We enjoyed our short hike here!
