I’m light on pics from our time in Nebraska, although that’s no reflection on how nice our visit was. Norah and I flew into Denver and drove to western Nebraska, making our obligatory stop at Carhenge. This year, we visited after the Summer Solstice Painting, when eight muralists had recently painted the cars, so we got to admire the new artwork.
We spent a relaxing week with my parents. We played a lot of cards (always good for plenty of laughs and some good natured ribbing) and just hung out. We took a two night trip to Rapid City, mostly to do some shopping and make our annual stop at Mitzi’s Books. One morning, we had breakfast at The Sour, a newer bakery in Rapid that made a New York Times list—and wow, it was good. So good, in fact, that we went back the next day for breakfast and goodies to take home.
On the way back, we made a short detour to Fort Robinson to see Newsies at the Post Playhouse. It was a fun show, and we really enjoyed the choreography.
We always finish these visits with some family pictures, which everyone else would more accurately describe as torture. They humored me for about ten minutes max, so I had to work quickly. But it’s always worth it to get some family photos. Freya and Maisie were a lot more agreeable!
We had a great visit, and then it was time to head back to Colorado, with three nights in Estes Park and a night in Denver before flying home.
A Twin Bing and Carhenge - definitely in Nebraska!
