Our jam packed summer continued into July. Norah and I had one day at home to recalibrate after Western States, then we were off again - this time for our East Coast tour. We flew to Raleigh and spent a few days with my friend Nicole, including a great dinner with Rishi and Kavita. Then we drove to Marion in the western part of the state to stay with Lois for a week. Norah enjoyed pool time with her cousin Miranda, we had a BBQ for July 4th, Norah and Miranda spent an afternoon painting and seeing the deer, we ate at Tupelo Honey in Asheville and did some shopping - overall it was a low key, relaxing week to spend time with family. I did have one hiking excursion when I spent the day at Grandfather Mountain. It was about 12 miles and 3800 feet elevation gain/loss to hike the Profile, Underwood, and Grandfather Trails to Calloway, MacRae, and Linville Peaks (accessed by a walk across the swinging bridge). A lot of scrambling and rocks, some ladders, beautiful forests, and gorgeous views. I topped off the hike with some yummy BBQ at the Pedalin’ Pig, conveniently located near the Profile Trailhead. Our final stop in NC was a night in Raleigh before flying to NY and we had dinner with Andrew and Mel at Dame’s Chicken and Waffles in Durham. We always have to get our fill of good Southern food when we visit!
