Our base for the weekend was Kodachrome Basin State Park. We enjoyed camping at Bryce View Campground (surrounded by black-tailed jackrabbits) and had a chance to hike some of the short trails in the park. On our first day Steve was up early for a run on the Panorama Trail and later in the day we hiked Angel's Palace. Angel's Palace had a great reward:effort ratio. A lot of cool rocks and views for an easy 1.5 miles and 150 feet elevation gain.

Our hike in Bryce Canyon on the second day didn't take as much time as we anticipated and we found ourselves with a free afternoon. We stopped by the visitor's center at Red Canyon and it was recommended we connect four shorter trails for a ~2.2 mile loop. This loop linked the Pink Ledges, Hoodoo, Birdseye, and Photo trails and returned to the visitor center on the paved bike trail across the road. This was a nice little hike and a good stop.

On our way back to Kodachrome we decided to drive to Grosvenor Arch, a ten mile drive past Kodachrome on Cottonwood Canyon Road (dirt road, passable in our Mazda 5). It's an impressive double arch - 150 feet high and 100 feet in diameter for the largest arch. As an added bonus there are some nice views driving back to Kodachrome.

To finish out our second day, we drove to Chimney Rock in Kodachrome and the light looked good, so I took some pictures of Norah. We followed up with sunset at a viewpoint off the main road and a short walk on the Nature Trail. Kodachrome was an excellent base for the weekend!
