For our first day in Costa Rica we took a one day tour out of San Jose. We stopped at a coffee plantation, followed by a traditional Costa Rican breakfast (fresh fruit and juice, coffee, rice and beans, fried plantains, eggs, toast) at a small open air restaurant in the countryside. When we arrived at Poas Volcano National Park, the view of the crater was obscured by fog and mist. What we missed was a large crater (1.3km wide and 300m deep) that bubbles and steams (not active like Arenal Volcano), but we did get a chance to wander around the dwarf cloud forest, where we took this picture.
