After sunrise we set out to hike Jackson Peak in the Gros Ventre Range across the valley from the Tetons. We drove to the Goodwin Lake trailhead near the Elk Refuge. It was a dirt road that was 90% okay; the last bit was a little rocky. The total hike was ten miles round trip with 2600 feet elevation change; although with the nicely graded trails it felt easier than that. It was three miles to Goodwin Lake where we stopped for a short break before climbing up Jackson Peak.
