Granite Hot Springs

A pool was built at Granite Hot Springs by the CCC in the 1930's. The springs flow into the pool, using a sediment pool as a natural filter. Every night the pool is drained, the bottom swept, and filled again. It was a warm day and the water felt hot (it's deceptive seeing the pool and stepping in expecting to feel normal pool temperature water), so we spent most of our time dangling our feet in and admiring the views.

The pools are open during the winter; accessible by snowmobile, dogsled, or skiing. The water is actually hotter in the winter as there is no snowmelt cooling off the springs.
