We arrived in Billings late Friday night and were on our way Saturday morning. Instead of going over the Beartooth pass we headed south through Bridger and Belfry to take the scenic Chief Joseph highway through the Sunlight Basin. On our way we stopped in Shoshone National Forest to hike Bald Peak (elevation 8633 feet). We took a forest road about 12 miles from the junction with 120 and were able to drive pretty close to the peak (thank you Enterprise for the free upgrade to a SUV!). We stopped on the Bald Peak Ridge Road to snap a picture of the peak from the distance. It looks pretty mellow here - it looked much more impressive from highway 120!
