So we finally made it to the famed Lake O'Hara. It's a fragile alpine area and they manage it with an iron fist, so it can be tough to get in. It took us two tries of calling right when the office opened to make camping reservations three months in advance.
Day hikers, campers, and the folks staying at the lodge are bused in on the 6.6 mile road (there is no limit to how many people want to hike the road in). We were worried we might have had too many bags (we had two larger backpacks and one smaller one), but when we arrived at bus and saw the HUGE duffel bags people had (like takes two people to carry duffel bags) we realized we were on the light side.
After claiming a campsite and getting set up we went to get our first look at Lake O'Hara. We hiked the easy trail around the lake and then hiked up to Lake McArthur (total of ~6.7 miles).
