Hudson Valley

The main reason for our East Coast trip was to visit our friends in the Hudson Valley. We lived in the Hudson Valley for nearly twenty years and while we love living at the Grand Canyon (well, two out of three of us anyway), it was hard to leave our friends. We were thrilled to be able to come back and spend time with our friends and visit some favorite spots (which included lots of Giacomos for Norah!). After our packed itinerary the first two weeks, it was nice to have some down time and a relaxing week. We stayed in an Airbnb near Spackenkill, which was a convenient location. We didn’t get to everything we had planned (some days were rainy and some days were ridiculously hot and humid), but managed most of our list. This is what we ended up doing:

Monday: Rainy day, so no walks/hikes. We had lunch with Becky at Sugar and Spice and did a little shopping. In the evening I went to a Zumba class and we had pizza with the ladies afterwards at Sal’s.
Tuesday: Hiked Mt.Beacon and visited Mid Hudson Animal Aid. We had dinner at The Ice House with Ann Marie and Erin.
Wednesday: Splashdown Water Park with Becky and Norah’s friends. We celebrated Daniela’s birthday with dinner at Margaritas.
Thursday: Lunch at Danielle’s and seeing the house she built and dinner at Mill House Brewery with Nancy and Becky.
Friday: Hiked Millbrook Mountain and Awosting Falls at Minnewaska State Park with Becky. We had a lovely evening on the Hudson River on Eric’s boat.
Saturday: Joe Jam!
Sunday: Dia Beacon and walking around Beacon (checked out the new cat cafe). We went to Long Dock Park in the evening for a photo session with Gavin.
