Nanga Parbat circuit trek has always been considered as a very challenging trek, mainly because of crossing the Mazeno Pass (c.a. 5400 m a.s.l.) - glaciated, technical pass requiring abseiling with fixed ropes. Even after crossing Mazeno La to do a kind of a circuit the trekking party would have to cross at least two other quite high passes (c.a. 4900 m), to reach Fairy Meadows.

There is also a "cultural" aspect of crossing the Nanga Parbat area, something reminding stories written in the 1970-ies and 80-ies, by members of climbing expeditions to Karakorum peaks (K2, Broad Peak, Gasherbrums), related to behavior of the local porters and crew. Those problems have been largely solved in the Baltoro area, but not necessarily everywhere else...

So this trek was organized in June-July 2022 on the initiative of Roland Hunter from The Mountain Company (UK) as a recce trek, to gain experience on the local situation and possibly prepare a commercial offer for trekking groups. Now, TMC indeed offers the trek in 2023.

The trek leader was Ade Summers, and the other member was Jasmine Star. Trek sirdar was Juma Wali Wali
