Hong Kong is very stable geologically so no problem with earthquakes to limit building heights, but they do get typhoons on a regular basis. Therefore, very tall buildings will often have an empty floor (clearly visible in the tallest one here) to help allow the wind to pass through and reduce the stress on the building.
