Turkey Vulture 3

A New World vulture (Cathartes aura) having dark plumage and a bare red head and neck similar to that of the turkey. Also called turkey buzzard.
The nostrils are not divided by a septum, but rather are perforate; from the side one can see through the beak.

Great work here, honoring the janitors of our carrion on this planet. I think this is what happens to Hell's Angeles when they rat out their crew. Our eucalyptus trees get filled with these birds at certain times of the year. It is indeed sort of an eerie sight. These are stellar images of these guys. g

Superb shot, excellent detail. We enjoy seeing them flying over frequently. A short while there must have been above 50 over the area we were driving through.
