Muskrat

I spotted this fellow and a friend on a raft near the shore of Kent Lake in Kensington Park this afternoon. Its long thin tail distinguishes
it from the American beaver. I can attest to the fact that it is a very good swimmer and can stay
submerged for up to 15 minutes. The bottom image shows the roots and plants he kept
bringing to the raft.

And they whirled and they twirled and they tangoed
Singin and jingin the jango
Floatin like the heavens above
It looks like muskrat love

Great picture, Jay, in Holland we aren't too keen on those creatures as they destroy the dikes.

Great capture Jay, I have only ever seen them briefly on land before they dive fast into the water.
