This Cair was erected in July 1st.1927 to commemoration of the treaty of peace between the Blackfeet and the Cree Indians in 1867. Wetaskiwin was the Cree word for Hills of Peace. I am checking into this as the slate says that Wetaskiwin is spelled Wetaskewin...interesting. This cairn was moved from its old location of highway 2a and 13 to Highway 2a and Centennial Drive.
