An antique 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting in mineral pigments depicting, within an elongated nimbus and a red mandorla a seated a white bodied, 'lobed' bellied manifestation of White Tara, the Goddess with a lotus-centred diadem which holds a wish-fulfilling gem abover her flowing hair. She has a sweetly smiling face and wears a diaphanous green choli above her red and green multi-layered dhoti, a red celestial scarf which floats around her as she sits on her lotus throne which rises unbesmirched from the mire. She wears heavy earrings and bodhisattva ornaments, her left hand holding the stem of a full-blown lotus, her right in the gesture of dispelling fear. 2 lines of Tibetan text to reverse in 2 different hands. 8.8 x 11.2cm
