An antique 19th Century or earlier tsakli painting, depicting within a great red nimbus and inserted into its own stand is a beautifully ornemented Precious Right Spiralling White Conch shell (Shangkha/Dakshin amukha) as the Auspicious Horn (Tibetan: dung dkar g.yas 'khyil) to use when proclaiming the true Buddhadharma - in fact the proclaiming battle horn of the Conch Shell is equivalent to the military bugle, and is one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols (Astamangala). The right-spiralling movement of the conch echoes the celestial motion of the sun, moon, planets and stars across the Heavens, and is also echoed in the hair whorls on the Buddha's head, A silken honorific scarf is tied to the base of the shell. two lines of Tibetan text to the reverse. 104 x 13.4cm
