Hang Time

A youngster sports his personal style while cavorting on a homemade court. This is one of my all-time favorites and it won several awards in the feature photography category.

This image is not merely about sports or about capturing an action, it has delivered a very touching message. A young boy cavorting in a homemade court that he's satisfied with, bouncing with excitement. Maybe he's escaping into his own fantasy, hearing the thunderous cheering from the audience. It's nice to see some kids who dream of their world of sports, whatever condition the toys or equipment he's limited to, while almost all the kids around us are concentrating on their cell phones these days. ~VvV~

Wonderfully seen and captured ... it speaks to the thrill of youth, to the challenge of basketball and to the abject poverty around this young boy. A moving, impactful shot, Marcia ... v
