Rather a sad story attaches to this slightly bedraggled little flower. Every year we visit a patch of waste ground on the corner of a field
to photograph the dozens of colt's-foot which have established there and which gleam gold in the rough grass every Spring.
This year, the farmer has decided to plough up the waste ground as well as the field, and to sow the whole area with wheat.
This little flower is the only one left after the ploughing.
