This image could just as well be placed in my marketplace gallery, yet it also functions here, in this gallery on salesmanship. Sometime, the art of salesmanship is rooted in passivity. There is a code of etiquette in force at the weekly animal market in this small North African desert town, a method of selling based on tradition. This man in the shadows is probably the owner of these sheep and goats. He and his assistant remain as far away from them and his customers as he can, allowing the product to speak for itself. There is no hard sell. He will speak only when spoken to, and then he will speak with few words.
