Transportation box for my FS102 refractor

I have received my FS102 (my first APO refractor) in the factory cardboard box. The box quickly started to detoriate after few trips to remote locations, so I decided to build a custom transport box.

The box was made of 8mm water-resistant plywood, treated with 3 layers of polyurethane marine-grade clear finish. The top cover is attached at the long side using piano hinge, and is locked with 2 self-locking latches. There are rubber feet under the box and a handle on top.

Width and depth were calculated to accommodate 2cm foam lining on all sides. Box length was set to allow storing the scope with CAA and 2" diagonal attached.

This box allowed me to securely transport my telescope to many observing events and to securely store it at home while not in use. The box was sold together with the refractor.
