Conversion of AP400 base to fit on Takahashi tripods

Astro-Physic / Baader wooden tripod is a very robust and stable platform for up to Mach-1 mount, but too heavy for portable / travel use, especially under lighter AP400 mount and lightweight scope like Tak FSQ85. On the other side, I used to already have a nice wooden Takahashi tripod as well as a converted aluminum theodolite tripod (featured on other pages here). Therefore a decision to machine new AP400 base compatible with Takahashi tripods.

As a side benefit, I could get rid of the ADATRI and also make the base lighter, thus saving some 2kg off the mount weight - crucial for expeditions to remote locations.

As one can see on the images, I have bored a number of large holes from the adapter bottom to save even more weight.

Note - since than, I have manufactured a second, even lighter base of smaller diameter (140mm), saving another 250g...
