Polish Amateur Astronomers Association (PTMA) is taking an active role in the IAY 2009. During the "100 hours with Astronomy" event, we organized a number of daily (and nightly) viewing sessions for general public. Here is a short photo - blog from the first viewing session, held on the evening of Thursday 2009-04-02 in PTMA location in Warsaw - CAMK terrace. There were 3 of us (and 3 other astronomers with their C8) facilitating viewing for approximately 20 participants. There was no crowd so we were able to grant long time at the eyepiece, as well as some mini-lecturers on space, cosmology, Solar System, astrophotography etc. The standard showpieces were Moon and Saturn but also some multiple stars, Iridium flares and even brightest nebulae (M42) or star clusters (Pleiades, M3). One of the "hits" was showing the public how to take their (first) astro-images using their cell phones in afocal projection :-)
