Anything Goes This Year...

Yup we're having snow again. I've had lots of activity at my feeder this morning because of it: juncos, cardinals, house finches, chickadees, nuthatches and house sparrows so I look out there often. Just to prove how confusing things are, I looked out the window late morning and I have a Mallard pair in my yard and I'm "a pretty long way" from any water. Part of me hopes they stay and nest but part of me hopes they don't as I will worry so much about them and their ducklings.

We had a whiteout on Thursday the 24'th but it was gone by the afternoon...now it's just cold! We get Mallards in our yard all the time...they are so cool! I'm glad you had a pair stop by!!!!!!!

Seems that we are all a little confused.

No snow yet but we're certainly having our Redbud Winter.

And they're telling the finches to throw more seed out of the feeder! Neat catch!!

This is so funny. It seems that ducks are turning up at feeders more and more often. They have been coming to the Fletcher Wildlife Garden feeders in flocks of up to 40 at times, and I have heard that other people have ducks coming to their feeders. Funny birds!

Good documentary picture, it conveys the feeling you had...

Just looking for a place to swim. Any ponds around?

I've seen a lot of different birds at a feeder but never ducks.

In desperate search of water. Looks like your having a longer winter than we are here in Alaska. We had a real mild winter. Ron

Ducks and snow - sounds like nature has gone a bit crazy in your neck of the woods.

The are probably hungry and wondering what is going on. The latest we had snow when I lived in Pennsylvania was April 27 and all the robins were sitting on the curb wondering why they had returned.

Well now, I have never had ducks come to my feeder...
I think (knock on wood) our snow is all in the mountains now...

Come on Patti...get the kiddie pool out! Hope that's all the snow you get!
