New Neighbors?

Just as I was coming home this afternoon I saw these two leaving my front yard. This is the second time in a week that I've seen a female Mallard in my yard. In 30 years here, we've never had ducks - probably because we have no water nearby - no pools, no ponds, no streams or creeks! My guess is they're looking for a nesting site which is good (photo ops) and bad (how to collect them all and get them to water when they hatch). The saga continues...

They look like they will be great neighbors.

Wow, how awesome would that be to have them nesting if not in your yard but close by! Last year a pair nested in the mall parking lot and my friend who works there led them across 4 lanes of traffic, stopping traffic to get them safely to the other side so they could get to water!

I see a new gallery...be careful thought, they may want some royalities.

Perhaps if you install a small pool they will pay enough rent to pay for it! :-)

Yes, hopefully you will get lots of photo ops. Think it's to do w ith the mating
season, the ducks in our local town are going mad too, leaving the river
and wandering around roads and housing estates!
