Art in the public toilet

Kleine Kerkstraat, Meppel, Drenthe, The Netherlands view map

The stork and (just visible) a frog with a crown fit the context of the city of Meppel. The stork is Meppel's most important cultural-historical mascot.
The crowned frog refers to a well-known fairy tale, The Frog King. This reflects the literal transformation of the location itself: a formerly ugly, "dirty," and grimy public peeing spot has been transformed by art into something beautiful, regal, and royally fresh.

It definitely better than the usual public restroom. Very bright and lovely. V

Before reading the info, I thought this looked out-of-place, but changed my mind after reading!
