Roundstone, a picturesque fishing village in the heart of the Connemara region. The village was founded in the 1820s by the Scottish engineer Alexander Nimmo. He built the pier, roads, and houses to stimulate fishing in the west of Ireland. The harbour is still active. You can see fishing boats coming in daily with fresh catches such as lobster, crab, and mackerel, which you can taste immediately in the local restaurants.
