A hatch in the floor leading to the eight 900 gal. fuel tanks (14 tanks on production model) in the hull. All void spaces beneath the floor were initially filled with inflated beach balls to displace water and maintain floatation in case of a hull leak or rupture. These were later replaced with moulded styrofoam blocks.
