Styles of the Future: Smitty's, RIP 4/27/2010

After dispensing "the styles of the future" to Cincinnatians for 84 years, Smitty's was destroyed by a raging fire on April 27, 2010. Open 365 days a year, Smitty's cashed pay checks, extended credit, and sold attire to generations of men and boys from its rambling location in the 1400 block of Vine Street, in the heart of Over The Rhine, a neighborhood in constant transition. Larry, the owner, was kind enough to allow me to photograph him and his remarkable palace of fashion in early 2009. Little did I know it would be my one and only visit.
