This 9 miles long hike rewarded with widely varied spectacular views.
The first part from Bear Lake was just an uphill grind through typical pines. After a bit however, you cross a rock field with fantastic views, and then come up to a place where a looming rock face occupies all space between the trees. The view from the top here around 11,000 feet is inspiring (and chilly). On the downward journey, Odessa and Fern lakes are absolutely beautiful with trees coming all the way to the water and rock monunents all around. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (but long).
Thanks for the awesome pictures to help us remember a beautiful hike in Rocky Mountain. You have done well to capture the beauty and magnificance of the mountains. We enjoyed visiting with you that day. My only regret is that I didn't offer to get a picture of you at Odessa Lake. Sorry! I have downloaded the pictures of me and my mom to keep on my computer as a memory. We did hike on down to the lower shuttle stop and convinced a couple we met at the lake to do the same. Well worth it, but we too were very tired.
