I've had this plant for
at least 12 years and this
is the first time it has ever
had a flower. I didn't even know
that it was a flowering plant.

That's what it is!! A Snake Plant. I googled it and learned that before it can flower, it has to be well established and the roots somewhat cramped in the container!! Thanks all.

I think you have a snake plant. ??? It is the first house I ever had. I didn't treat mine as well as yours so mine never bloomed. What a precious little flower.
