Rows of Barracks

150 barracks like this were pre-fabricated in Germany. They were originally designed to accommodate 40 horses each.
Here, at Birkenau Concentration Camp each one of them held 200 up to 500 prisoners, cramped together in triple-bed rows.
Each bed had a number and was assigned to a specific prisoner. There were no running water on the premises or in the latrine block.
