"Birding on the Edge"

The photos in this gallery were taken during a birding trip in Banawe/Mt. Polis (Northern Luzon) in April 2011. A major landslide obliterated the entire section of the road linking Banaue and Bontok, Mountain Province the night before. This affected not only the regular flow of vehicular traffic but our planned road-side birding trip as well.

The group decided to cross the landslide area which was still being cleared of loose rocks and debris. The clearing operation was slow and dangerous with smaller landslides expected anytime as people cross the narrow temporary foot trail.
