Barnaby Reach Project Team Plans for Phase 1 Construction in 2021
Removing old hatchery infrastructure at the former Barnaby Slough Hatchery is Phase 1 of the project to improve fish habitat in the Barnaby Reach of the Skagit River. Plans include removing three cross dikes and the enclosed rearing pond in Barnaby Slough. Water control structures, buildings, abandoned wells, and unnecessary road fill will also be removed or decommissioned. The Phase 1 project is currently in final design and permitting with construction planned for summer 2021.
