Hawk Owl, Northern

Press SLIDESHOW in upper right corner of gallery.

Every picture has a story. I was at Beaver Dick Park near Rexburg, Idaho (Nov. 25, 2007) photographing a Hawk Owl. Beautiful day, everything was perfect. All of a sudden the hawk owl stopped, looked directly at me, as though I were prey, took off flying straight at me. As he flew past my head, his wing tip brushed my ear. Scared the "crap" out of me. Can't believe I didn't drop the camera. Come to find out, he had spotted a vole (large mouse) beyond me and made a "beeline" straight for it. I just happened to be in the way. It was funny after...it was not funny at the time. Great memory.
