Intermediate Adapter 1043.jpg

Intermediate adapter can be made for any SLR lens.
This one is for Minolta/Sony AF lenses.
Mates with Mamiya 645 mount on Mirex T/S adapter.
Thickness is varied depending on lens registration distance.

Joe:

Yes this is the M42 version of the Mirex. Both lens adapters are custom in that the M42 to NEX side is very short as you say in the order of about 1mm because the M42 threads just fit inside inner diameter of the NEX mount. I mention also that 35mm lenses such as the Minolta AF 20mm do not have enough coverage for full shift even on APS sized sensors.

The aperture control is a simple preset to a fixed f/stop, though I'm working on a manual control that will allow the full range of (non-automatic) apertures.

Pete,
This picture of the Mirex apparently connected directly to an NEX, despite the Mirex being for M645 to Alpha is more than a little puzzling. Even if it's M645 to M42, I don't understand how it can connect to the NEX. And an M42 to Alpha full frame adapter would have to be only 0.96 mm thick. How is the Mirex connected to the NEX? Is one end of a typical FF Alpha to NEX adapter just the male to the other end's female?? And are you saying that any FF lens could then be connected via an adapter to the of the Mirex? To the M645 side? I don't get this. No one that I've ever seen makes adapters for connecting FF lenses to an M645 camera, and for obvious reasons (no infinity, totally inadequate image circle). So are you telling us here that one could have a custom adapter made for the front side of the Mirex, somehow connect the back of the Mirex to the NEX (perhaps is just connects), and then have tilt capability for almost any kind of FF lens (if it's got manual aperture control) on an NEX? This would be too good to be true LOL, but I don't understand how it's possible. Most puzzling. In the case then that we wanted to attach a Mamiya 645 lens to the NEX, we'd put a normal Alpha to NEX adapter behind the Mirex and just connect the M645 to the front.

And when a full-frame NEX comes along? Since the Mirex does a good job of keeping the optical axis centered, this should work! (FF DSLR lens on FF NEX camera with tilt) Wow. Tell me it's true! Thank you!
