On New Year’s Eve, 2005, June and Randy, received the telephone call that no parent wants to receive. Their nineteen year old daughter Andrea had been critically injured in a car accident. The prognosis was not good, but doctors did not take into account Andrea’s courage and tenacity, and the faith, hope and love of her family and community. Thanks to doctors, therapists, and the prayer warriors who have prayed daily for Andrea and her family, we have all witnessed a miracle.
Last night there was a concert in Andrea's honor at the school where June teaches. My grandson Alec was asked to play the piano and in addition the choir, string band and the high school orchestra performed. Then several talented members of the staff and parents performed, including one Grammy winner! My grandchildren’s school, from their principal to the maintenance staff is awesome. What an uplifting night.
Andrea has a way to go on her journey to a full recovery, but her shining spirit was obvious last night and she will make it back. What a very special young lady and a loving family.
Joining her in the photo are her boyfriend, Dustin, and my grandchildren, Alec and Abbie.
The photo below shows Alec at the piano and he is framed by June, who was his adored fourth grade teacher, and Randy.
