My butterfly garden

I received this beautiful hanging basket, AESCHYNANTHUS RADICANS,
from a friend. I just can't understand why it is called a Lipstick Plant. LOL

I was surprised that it has thrived (see below) in our 100+ degree heat.

Nikon Coolpix 4500
1/51s f/5.0 at 16.2mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Wow awesome macro Petesie. The color is so deep and you can see every hair.

I've never even heard of a lipstick plant! It's not only unique but beautiful! Imagine what it would look like if it had been taken by a DSLR....LOL! I know you're gonna get one!

When we moved interstate 24 years ago our 3 yr old nextdoor neighbour wanted my lipstick plant. Of corsre I handed it over with much love & until it finally died of old age he stood proudly in front of it so his mum could take his photo to send to us each year. Brad named it Laine's lick-stick plant :>)

Great detail in this macro. You can really see the pubescent characteristic of the bloom.

Great close up
