When I discovered this lovely old uprooted oak tree on our property my first
thought was to turn it into a hideout or clubhouse for the grandchildren. Then I thought
of making it into a grotto. I got teased a lot, asked if I expected miracles, etc.
The only miracle would have been if the deer didn't eat all of the flowers.....well,
they ate plenty, but these have survived. It is a long way from the house, so since
John's stroke I'm afraid they don't even get water on any TLC, and they are still there.
Actually, in this rocky soil any flower is a miracle! Soon I'll take a couple of photos of the
roots of the tree. There are some beautiful formations.
There is a little bench by the grotto.
