Modern Macau

The pre-colonial area of Macau peninsula is only one square mile. Most land of Macau came from reclamation. Recent acceleration in reclamation projects filled the water between two offshore islands, Taipa (氹仔) and Coloane (路環). Almost all new developments are built on reclaimed lands.
