The Washington Place is located across the street from the State Capitol. Built in 1842 by Capt. John Dominis, this former residence of Queen Liliuokalani (after she was overthrown) was also the official residence of Hawaii's governors until 2002 when the new mansion was completed on the lot behind. Although it is now a museum, it still holds official functions when the governor hosts VIP guests.
