On May 22, 1618, a group of Czech protestant noblemen met secretly here at the home of Albrecht Jan Smiřický to plot the Defenestration next day, when they threw two Hapsburg appointed Catholic governors out a window of the Prague Castle. Their revolt for religious freedom was the start of the Thirty Years War.
It is now used by the Czech Parliament as an office building.
